Thanks very much to everybody who came along to the ball on Saturday night.  It was lovely to see old friends and make new ones.

And our special guest speaker is...

We are very pleased to have as our guest of honour, Dr John Fingleton, chief executive of the Office for Fair Trading (OFT).  John studied economics at Trinity College, Dublin and was a Scholar and gold medalist and the founder-editor of the Student Economic Review.   He lectured in economics at TCD for nearly ten years. 

He was chairperson of the Irish Competition Authority from 2000 and joined t the OFT in 2005.  Under him, the OFT has taken on high-profile investigations of airlines, supermarkets and other industries.

Many of you will have fond memories of John as a lecturer.  If not you may recall how hard it used to be to get a taxi in Dublin before deregulation or discounted groceries until the Groceries Order was abolished.

Christmas Lunch with Senator Shane Ross - 22 December

A message from Senator Ross -

Here are the details for the Christmas lunch on Monday December 22nd. I must forewarn you though that the response was phenomonal and I have only very few spaces left unfortunately!

The afternoon begins with the lunch in the Member's Restaurant.   The tour of the Dail and the Seanad  follows, and then we can retire  to the Dáil bar.  The easiest way to enter Leinster House is via the Kildare Street entrance (between the National Library and the National Museum).  I shall leave your name with the ushers there.  They will be expecting you at 12.50.  I have booked the tables for 1.00, and the tour for 2.30.

The graduate homecoming event in Trinity takes place later on Monday evening, so a visit to the Dáil bar should fit in well. Later anyone who wishes--- and is fit enough--can change venues and head  to Trinity for the festive homecoming.  

Christmas Party - Irish International Business Network - 10 December

The Irish International Business Network (IIBN) would like to extend an invitation to all members of the Trinity College Dublin London Alumni network.

IIBN is a global 'not for profit' organisation which brings together the cream of Irish entrepreneurs and business men and women with a view to identifying and exploiting wealth creation opportunities.  Full details about IIBN and membership can be found on www.iibn.com. 

They will be hosting Christmas drinks on 10th December from 6pm at the 108 Bar, 108 Marylebone Lane.  It's a fairly casual affair and you're welcome to drop in at any stage.  Feel free to invite a guest also.

Christmas Party

Our infamous Christmas party, which SOLD OUT last year, will be held at Adams Street Private Members Club once again this year. Etch in stone Saturday, December 6th for this bash, as it is certain to sell out again and be a Crackin' time! Tickets will be £7 in advance and £10 on the door, and will include 'seasonal' goodies. ~wink wink~ More information on the party to follow in the coming weeks.

The Club is on Adam Street, just off the Strand, about five minutes walk from Trafalgar Square, Embankment, Temple, Covent Garden, Leicester Square or Covent Garden stations.
